When I served in the navy I was on a Spruance class Destroyer 2 Gas turbine main engines. That ship was commissioned in 1981. Most Spruance Class destroyers including mine were decommissioned in the late 1990’s. My ship would not have had diesel engines in it time. Thank you, that’s very interesting. Some ships might still use steam turbine due to lower level of vibration but I think with better improvements in diesel engine design, naval architect and marine engineers will continue to choose low speed diesel engine to propel ships. This status has only previously been extended to race, sex, and religious minorities. This means that discrimination against a “suspect class” triggers “Strict Scrutiny” on the part of the courts, and this analysis requires the government to come up with a “compelling state reason” for the discrimination. Historically, once a minority group has attained status as a “suspect class” discrimination against it has always been prohibited because the government has never been able to come up with a “compelling state reason” for the discrimination. The more society discriminates against them and denies them equal treatment, the more reasons they'll have to be protected by the state. Bush did not lie to go to war. When I was in the Navy serving my country aboard the USS INGERSOLL, we were sent on deployments to (you guessed it) the North Arabian Gulf. We were there to enforce the U.N. embargo’s against Saddam. Both times I was deployed, I and the rest of the crew were told Saddam had biological and chemical weapons IE Weapons of mass destruction.
